Andrea and I met almost 8 years ago not long after she was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 33. An endurance athlete and marathoner prior to her diagnosis, Andrea has found ways to move forward and faces this horrible disease with courage and hope determined to live her life fully and fight for a cure for ALS! She has raised over a million dollars to support progressive research to end ALS, completed 50 marathons in 50 states on her recumbent trike, wrote a book (HOPE FIGHTS BACK, it is so, so good!) AND made an incredible, award-winning documentary called GO ON, BE BRAVE which you can now stream - check out @go_on_be_brave — you will LOVE this movie!
Andrea reminds all of us of the gift it is to be alive, and that there is always hope even when things seem impossible. ✨✨✨

As a coach and runner who’s been lacing up my shoes for the better part of over 20 years I want to shout this one from the roof tops: EVERY RUNNER’S GOALS ARE AWESOME 🗣️📣👏 Whether you are just starting out or starting over, whether your a kid or a grandparent, whether you’ve running competitively or recreationally, are running for a team or for yourself or any reason whatsoever that’s meaningful and personal to you — you are awesome and so are your goals. One of the BEST things about this sport is that every person doing it is worthy of being out there and has goals worth sharing and celebrating. The people we share the roads and trails with can be our greatest inspirations and our cheerleaders. So next time you see someone out there running or line up on a start line, give them a wave and a smile. Let them know you see them, you are them, you celebrate them. 🩷

Run love is in the air ❤️ happy Valentine’s Day!
Run love, like any other love, is both complicated and simple. I’ve spent well over half my life in some sort of relationship to this sport. Over the years so much has changed but I know now that this way of moving is and always will be a part of me, no matter what shape it takes or where I am in my journey ❤️
Running and my love for it has held me together and broken my heart, it’s fortified my spirit, connected me to my body. It’s inspired me to dream big, to show up for and to believe in myself.
It’s not all heart eyes and rainbows of course, sometimes it’s a total drag and I have had seasons I wondered if I was “done” … but at the end of the day it’s my most reliable sanctuary, something I can hardly separate myself from.
Wherever you are with your running right now, don’t give up on yourself if you love the way it’s made you feel.
Let things change, let yourself grow ❤️ it’s worth it. The journey is worth it.
