In 2020 I made a piece of art related to running every day for 100 days. It was hard, challenging me in ways I both anticipated and didn’t see coming.

Much like running, the discipline of showing up to this practice as myself, with whatever I had in me each day, slowly and surely transformed me, teaching me so much about who I am. It is amazing what is possible when you meet yourself where you are, one day at a time. Running and art are practices and tools for self discovery!

As I begin another similar project (yesterday was day 1, and day 100 will be on my actual 50th birthday - April 10th!), I wanted to share this one here 💞

I’m excited and nervous about beginning again, and I also believe so much that doing so and sharing it with you will be deeply meaningful (and fun!). The beauty is in the showing up and discovering what’s possible, together!!

A simple mantra that brings me peace: “It’s going to be okay” ✨💙✨🩷✨

Not “running art” per se, but something I made a few years ago during a hard time and that I have felt pulled to over the last few weeks.

One of the (many) things about the runner’s journey that I think makes it so profound is that it is so intimately tied to the “doing life” journey. It’s inextricable for me - and I think for anyone whose running is more of a practice, a tool for self care, self compassion, self belief, self discovery.

Just a reminder to hold space for yourself during your moments of feeling stuck, hurt, uncertain or grieving. It is going to be okay, you are not alone, and you will grow stronger through this season.

Love and happy running and being to all of you!! No matter where you are on your journey, or how you feel today 〰️

The hard days, the blah days, the sweat, the chafing, the time on the foam roller, the strength workouts, the long runs, the physical therapy exercises, the visits to pt, the visits to chiro, the massage therapy, the early mornings, the scrunched in lunch runs, the evening runs, the hill repeats, the threshold miles, the strides, the unplanned rest days, the protein shakes, the electrolytes, the gels, the compression socks, the fast shoes, the GPS watch, the coach, the dietician, the races, the travel … all of the little and big and difficult and boring things you do and spend your time and energy on for this thing that you love, that makes you feel like you, that makes you better, that gives you back parts of yourself, that shows you how strong you are and that makes you feel ALIVE….
